Mazda of South Charlotte

Red, yellow, black, gray, blue, green and more recently titanium, gun metal and auburn… These days, automakers are producing cars in all of the aforementioned colors, plus more that you’ve probably never even heard of. Some are beautiful, others, ehhh not so much. The question: Is the color of your automobile a reflection of your personality or is it a near-meaningless detail? Rest easy, for Mazda of South Charlotte is here to judge you solely based on the color of your car.

BLACK

Black Mazda6The color black on an automobile says a mouthful about its owner. Black is a color associated with luxury and power; therefore it is more likely to be seen on a luxury car than on an economy car. Cadillac, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW sell the majority of their sedans in some shade of black because they naturally represent power, luxury, and prestige.

WHITE

White-Mazda3White paint can indicate that the owner of a vehicle is seeking to present a young or fresh image to the world. Although it can also suggest an entry level consumer that had to take what was available in their price range and financing capacity, the color white is often seen on luxury sedans and limousines too.

GRAY

Grey-Mazda-CX-9Gray is a neutral tone that is very popular on automobiles sold in North America. It indicates a consumer that desires to “fly underneath the radar” while projecting an image of class and dignity. Gray vehicles are sold in a wide variety of shades that lend themselves to tradition and maturity, regardless of the type of vehicle in question.

SILVER

Silver-Mazda6Silver says “cutting edge” or innovative and its metallic gleam denotes security and style. Just think of stainless-steel with all of its reliability and beauty. Silver vehicles have become common as fallbacks for the more conservative blacks and whites, which tend to show dirt and hold heat more profusely.

RED

Red-Mazda-MX-5The official color of the mid-life crisis, red cars project masculinity, fun, and action. Sporty red cars seem to flex their muscles on the road, but beware red is a color that not only draws forty-something males looking to express their aggression, they also have a reputation for irritating law enforcement officials.

BLUE

Blue-Mazda5Another color with multiple shades is blue. Navy blue can represent stability, fidelity, and indemnity, while light blues can convey serenity and peace. Blue is a common color when selecting a family car or mini-van and therefore more popular with female consumers. Blues have seen a drop in popularity over the last decade but a resurgence is expected, soon.

GREEN

Green-mazda3Despite the fact that green is often associated with nature, clean living, and environmental responsibility, very few new vehicle models are offered in any shade of green. If you select a green car it very well could mean that you don’t give a hoot about the latest fashion trends. Hey GO GREEN!

BROWN

Brown-Mazda3Brown runs the gambit from a deep chocolate color all the way up to beige. Those who purchase brown vehicles are likely to ignore trends and fads, driving the vehicle until “the wheels fall off.” Brown vehicles offer peace, tranquility, thriftiness, and value.

YELLOW

Yellow-MazdaHow ironic; this vehicle color is not well favored among law enforcement personnel but young people are drawn to it. Yellow is frequently found on high-performance sports cars. It exudes joy and a positive attitude. To many consumers, yellow feels too risky but consumers in their twenties (and males experiencing a mid-life crisis) find the vivid hues and bright colors inviting.

Not only do certain people gravitate towards certain colors, but specific car colors also affect the outside world as well. For example, the color silver is the least likely to be involved in a car accident. This is because it is the easiest color to see in the dark. Another fun fact… Proportionately, grey cars receive the most traffic citations out of any color. The reason? It’s a practical joke amongst law enforcement (just kidding).

Studies show that many car colors are, in fact, correlated with folks of certain demographics. Does this analysis ring true for you?
